Light speed Manufacturing, a Haverhill printing circuit developer with an international customer base, hopes to promote innovation by launching a hardware startup to compete with light speed Challenge.
Lightspeed works with local government groups, business organizations and North Essex Community College to invite companies with great ideas and limited resources to the competition.
Examples of recent hardware innovations include guitars and integrated iPhones that anyone can play, touch
Screen Tablets and sensors in smartphones and clothing can monitor location, environment and environment.
The annual $1 million global start-up competition and accelerator project MassChallenge provides a model for local competition.
The winner of the speed of light Challenge will get up to half the results.
More than a dozen free printed circuit boards eventually formed a working prototype.
Finalists will share $10,000 in cash, enter Lightspeed\'s design services and production facilities, and get free and discounted workspace at the Burgess business center incubator in downtown Haverhill, free consultation and connection with production supply chain resources.
Everyone participating in the competition can get free seminars and guidance on topics such as business, finance, marketing and technology.
The organizers hope to attract 15 to 20 contestants.
Application deadline is October. 15.
